It is important to understand the American Progressive Movement as it explains why no matter who gets elected things always
stay the same in Washington. Progressives have embedded themselves in both parties and at this point have taken over the Democratic
party. There is no place anymore for people of conservative convictions within the Democratic party. We have also seen for years
Republicans get elected by running as a conservative only to join the progressives once they are elected. So what exactly does it
mean to be a progressive and why is it that most people have never heard much about this idealogy.
Progressive is just another word for socialist, communist or Marxist. Americans reject socialism, communism and Marxism but if framed nicely
are very supportive of "Progress". What you have to ask your self is what are we progressing from and what are we progressing to? The simple answer is we are progressing from the United States Constitution to something like Socialist Soviet Constitution. That's crazy right. That can't be true.
Let's examine the two constitutions, the US vs the former USSR:
The US constitution recognizes your inaliable rights to Life, Liberty and Property(pursuit of happiness). It establishes a bill of rights
that says what the federal government cannot do to you. It sets up a Republic of independent states and recognizes that all
powers not specifically granted to the federal government are reserved to the states and finally the people.
The Soviet constitution on the other hand enumerates what the government must do for you.
1. The right to a job.
2. The right to a home.
3. The right to healthcare.
4. The right to food.
These rights were linked to the individuals worth as determined by their ability to contribute to society. As long as you produce more
than you consume you are of value to the society. Those who cannot produce would do well to die to benefit society.
Progressives differ from past socialist takeovers only in their implementation, evolution versus revolution. Progressives have put in place a system
to evolve America through a series of small changes. When progressives tried to directly implement a second bill of rights, to rapidly transform
America they were soundly rejected by the American people. They learned their lesson and have embarked on a long slow transformation of
society through the courts, education and legislation. Now with their goal in site and the leaders in place they are rapidly undertaking the final
transformation of America Obama promised during his campaign.
The beginning of the 20th century American progressive movement can be traced back to President Woodrow Wilson. Wilson, a democrat
served from 1913 to 1921. If your interested in some in depth analysis of Wilson's policies the following articles have a lot of information.

The early progressive movement actually resulted in some very successful and much needed changes. Unfortunately for all the good that
was done and equal number of drastic changes for the worse were put in place.
